The ART of Listening

During our lives we are often wanting to make sure we are “LISTENING” to people we care about. They might be sharing an event, a happening in their lives, feelings that could be both fun and rewarding, or a piece of difficult times in their lives. I can remember someone sharing with me about how important it is to simply BE a listener at times and not offer any advice or suggestions. Very often all of us have a friend or family  member that simply LISTENS at a very important time in our lives. It took me years to develop a better skill for listening instead of always trying to sympathize through a story or starting a sentence…”Oh I have had that same feeling…followed by a story.” Once I learned that as a skill, I realized how MUCH I must have been missing in my earlier life! BUT, today I’m going to talk about the ART of “LISTENING” to our Source or GOD.

As I pondered the simple art of listening to other people, I was startled to realize…the ART of listening to GOD, the Universe, or messengers from the spirit world is very similar! The parallels are huge! Can I listen for the wisdom God shares with me? Or do I start talking with myself with,” Oh I remember a story that I heard from Suzanne Giesemann, or words I read that held meaning in a book I loved, or a voice I heard from my latest YouTube video! I remember…I remember. Oops…that is NOT listening! And it is way too easy to lose touch with what I KNOW inside.

I KNOW I am connected to the Universe, I KNOW that connection is REAL and I KNOW I am able to recognize signs that might be coming from the Universe dropping into my every day life. I actually find that the most significant messages for me arrive during my overly ‘busy” day at odd moments in time. There is a ONENESS that returns speaking my own LOVE language tapping into a wisdom that lives within me…and in my quiet moments I hear the messages so very clearly!

What IS the ART of it all? I firmly believe that part of the art is knowing that your soul is a huge piece of the listening.  My soul and YOURS may have different thoughts for answers you are seeking. That is why it is not helpful for me to “remember” what another source shared with me on a particular subject. So as you read this list…DISCARD it right away and instead create your OWN with your soul as your guide.

OKAY…yes it might be helpful to read on. BUT, remember YOU are the creator of your OWN life!!

The ART of LISTENING…for the life beyond our current view!

• Be in touch with ALL of your current beliefs that might be limiting.
• DO NOT limit yourself…God’s LOVE never limits you at all!
• “Ask and you shall RECEIVE”  is TRUTH coming in many forms in your life.
• ASK, ASK, ASK again and if you “LISTEN”, answers come your way.
• ANSWERS can come any time of day or night.
• Daily Meditation strengthens your ability to LISTEN.
• Answers may be days away, or moments away…but be READY to LISTEN!
• You will KNOW deep in your heart when a message arrives to YOU…there will be a deep knowing and it is ALWAYS pure in LOVE.

I always wonder why sunrises and sunsets are so meaningful in my life. BUT, rather than question that, I simply ENJOY every opportunity I have. Tonight is a good example of why ASKING is so important. As tonight’s sunset hit behind our house, I went out to enjoy. I took a rather usual picture. Pretty, but nothing special. SO…I ASKED…Please let me know what I have to LEARN today through this sunset. First I heard, “go to your other window.” I went and sure enough it was a spectacular view. BUT, I heard, “take your picture now!” And this is the picture I took!

There was a message for ME! But, it had been a few days since I had ASKED this question. I was sitting in church. The music was gorgeous and I was loving a full orchestra and a wonderful harp player.  I was listening to music I loved, but pondering on a conflicting message. I always KNOW I’ll hear heaven discussions at any Christian church. My earlier upbringing came up again…even though I THOUGHT I knew the answer, I asked anyway! The answer was in this photo… not through words but through a sunrise!  I am choosing not to share that message because this isn’t about MY beliefs at all.

This post is about the art of LISTENING for God’s messages.  So often the answer is not in words of our language, but through any one of our human senses! This one was very clear to me. I KNEW immediately. There’s a KNOWING that sinks in…deeply and makes you smile through the love. So…as you practice the ART of listening…be wide OPEN for how it might arrive to you!
