WISDOM

How is it that wisdom can simply live in us and be timeless besides?  So often as we search for knowledge on life, healing, aging, God, Angels, Spirit…and the life beyond our earthly existence~wisdom guided us without huge efforts on our part.  Science keeps on growing in knowledge and yet it is with humility that we realize science is just the same as you and I. Science is “awakening”  to the realities that have ALWAYS been there! With all of the new technology growing by the day…some people revere new discoveries without realizing that we are simply waking up to the realities of our Universe. There is timeless wisdom that has been there since the beginning of man…helping us all along in our lives! This photo is a SPACE photo…God? We simply kept up our striving, thinking that we need to be better, be the best, and all through a very unhealthy competition. That striving that has settled into our own country causing all of us wonder WHAT will happen next.

Some are hoping and wishing that “religion” will help us out of this mess. Indeed Jesus certainly tried to lay out a path of LOVE, CARING, and COMPASSION as a model. But, alas the same competition to be the BEST landed in Christian religions too.  There have been many highly regarded Spiritual Masters from every far reaching corner of our Earth that have wrestled with the human ego mind wanting to prove their way was the RIGHT path. ALL of them have had some incredibly powerful messages that we can read, learn, and grow from their words through timeless wisdom.

So many spiritual gurus have studied the “Wisdom of the Tao” which has held many truths well before Christianity was born. I keep getting a little STUCK on one of the teachings that I have concluded was meant for me to keep re-reading! I think it is because it holds some really DEEP truths for us that resonate deep in my soul. And yet…what a HARD one to follow in my life.  Just as a reminder the verses were written by Lao-tzu in the Tao Te Ching. ( Translated as The Way) Lao-Tzu was an ancient Chinese prophet who was encouraged to write down his words. Most consider this a valuable resource for achieving a way of life that guarantees integrity, joy, peace, and balance. Somehow through the ages of time his words have survived. His wisdom translated into thousands of versions in countless languages. The symbol of the Ying and Yang has become popular as we sort out the “fire and water”, “Male and Female” or the Ying and Yang of our own lives.

20th Verse ~ Tao Te Ching

Give up learning and you will be free from all your cares. What is the difference between yes and no? What is the difference between good and evil?

Must I fear what others fear? Should I fear desolation when there is abundance? Should I fear darkness when that light is shining everywhere?

In the Spring, some go to the park and climb the terrace, but I alone am writing, not knowing where I am. Like a newborn babe before it learns to smile, I am alone, without a place to go.

Most people have too much; I alone seem to be missing something. Mine indeed is the mind of an ignoramus in its unadulterated simplicity. I am but a guest in this world. While others rush about to get things done, I accept what is offered. I alone seem foolish, earning little, spending less.

Other people strive for fame; I avoid the limelight, preferring to be left alone. Indeed I seem like an idiot: no mind, no worries.

I drift like a wave on the ocean. I blow as aimless as the wind.

All men settle down in their grooves; I alone am stubborn and remain outside. But wherein I am most different from others is knowing to take sustenance from the great Mother!

It’s the first sentence that clutches me every time. “Give up learning and you will be free from all your cares.” It FINALLY hit home. It’s not that we don’t learn more~instead we TRUST that learning comes to us when are ready to hear it. In a state of appreciation and an absence of longing…we are LETTING GO of doing the right thing because there is no such thing. Perhaps instead we are RIDING that wave on the ocean gliding THROUGH the ever present rough places without the “worry” that our mind seems to take us into.

We are always PERFECT in our soul…the REAL and timeless gift from God!

 

So, when we do what we believe is our best every day…we CAN let go! And if we know we didn’t exactly DO our best that day…we CAN Let go!  I know I do NOT strive for fame. No worries? Oh that sounds ideal! I’m happy to “blow as aimless as the wind.”  I believe THAT is a very important piece of understanding! We are being encouraged to simplify our lives by not seeking more and more. I realize that I am in that place a lot of the time. For my loved ones and family there is always the dream that their lives are meaningful and free from undue stress.

I think maybe I finally GET IT! Let GO and LET GOD as the saying goes. But let go of demands and instead make loving choices. Keep letting go and relaxing into the LOVE that God placed deep in our soul to hold on to every single day of life…no matter where we are, no matter what we have or don’t have, no matter what others think of us!
