Wow! Best ever blog! Thank you, Terry, for sharing all this good stuff! As a hard-core skeptic I have some voices I always believe and you are one. I never thought about how the different levels of consciousness limit the experiences available to us on the other side. Do I understand that correctly?
YES, you do understand that correctly Mary. BUT, keep in mind that ALL is GOOD…ALL is LOVE…and there IS NO JUDGEMENT, at least not from God. Thank you for writing your thoughts and questions. Do any of us know all of the realities of the afterlife? No, we do not and I certainly will never claim that I do know all the answers! But, I’m listening and paying attention.
I want to start by helping all of you understand how and why I have come to my own understandings about the various levels of consciousness. Of course it all began when I was born into a family that I now know I chose to help me be a skeptic about LOTS of teachings I learned as a child. I can reflect back now and remember with clarity how often I sat taking myself in and out of the real events of my life to REFLECT…never understanding until well after my Near-Death Experience as a 32 year old living in 1982’s standards…that I likely shifted my consciousness even way back as a child. I was able to FIND the LIGHT in love and love in LIGHT as this photo is trying to represent. I didn’t always find it in my family back then, sometimes though…I had a loving family! But, I sure found it when I could SHIFT my consciousness level to another place. (Don’t take the word “place” literally!)
After my NDE…I could literally “go back” to that place of light to heal, to renew myself, and to remind myself I was HERE in this life for a reason! I had LOTS to learn. NOW? I can still take myself BACK to that light when I really need to renew and refresh my TRUE BEING.
Are there LEVELS of Consciousness? Yes, I do believe there are. We read about them in books written by people in various stages of consciousness themselves. We even watched their writings grow in understanding as they moved to a new level of Consciousness. We read words from masters that sometimes baffle us trying to understand their meaning. I know all of you have experienced reading something pretty simple from your prospective, only to find that your spouse, friend, or family has NO idea what you are talking about!
But, let’s get very real quickly. We ourselves have shifted our level of consciousness trapped in a human body…but we are growing! Think of the AFTERLIFE. I believe that most of us think ..and understandably that once we die we will ALL OF A SUDDEN know everything there is to know and experience EVERYTHING there is. This is where we might want to stop, think…and ask questions of our own spiritual guides. What is it that I do not know? What did I come here to LEARN that I have not?! If I have more learning to do once I REACH the afterlife…you and I and ALL people need different experiences there.
This thought simply comes ALIVE when you read the thousands of NDE’s from people from all walks of life. EACH and EVERY one of them is different. For myself it wasn’t simply reading them that helped me understand WE are creating a lot of what we will experience. It was talking with real people about their own NDE experiences and “why” they thought they experienced what they did. Those stories aren’t simply for people coming back…the next time I die I’m likely to STAY and I know I am CREATING right now the experiences I will have. If someone wanted a Jesus experience…they had it! If someone wanted Mohamed…they HAD that and understood their own life.
Take what you DO KNOW. You are a child of God. We are all connected through the Universe of LOVE, and as a collective of intelligent beings we are CREATING our reality together. On earth we are not always real thrilled by what is being created by way too many negative thinkers. But, they are creators regardless. We CREATE by our thoughts and actions. Are we already CREATING what we will experience in our afterlife journey? OR…are we creating what others are telling us based on THEIR reality?! Think of the webinars you listen to. Do you form your own opinions and thoughts as you listen? I try very hard to simply do that each and every time. Worry and doubt have no purpose.

EXPAND and CREATE instead!
LOVE and LIGHT are there for each and every one of us ALWAYS!

Again, a great column. This discussion is so meaningful to me because of your NDE experience and our shared sources. There is a writer I remember from several years ago on Buddha at the gas pump: Ken Wilbur, I think it was. He wrote about how our level of consciousness determines our experiences and perceptions. And then there is David Hawkins who showed how we can raise our level of consciousness. That is what A Course in Miracles is all about..forgiveness and practicing to choose the Voice for God instead of the much louder voice of the ego in all our thoughts, words and actions.
Mary…THANK YOU so much for all of your beautiful words! And yes…right now it is SO important for us to keep reminding ourselves to choose the Voice for God and put our practices of forgiveness and LOVE to work each and every day. So much love…we need it all!
