Good ENOUGH…

Good ENOUGH…
Most times we are using this phrase as a question. Am I good ENOUGH? I’ve heard the phrase said very differently from Spiritual Masters. “You are always ENOUGH!” It’s a great concept to think that at any point in my life, I was always good enough. Or as in right now, I AM good ENOUGH. But, living that thought and concept is not always so easy. We have a huge desire to be kind, compassionate and caring and so we set a high standard for ourselves. It’s pretty easy to get tangled up thinking we want to be our best…and then somehow our mind falls into the habit criticizing ourselves for what that should have looked like! Or moving ahead to future thoughts of I need to do better!
We could go on and talk about our usual trait of comparing ourselves with others, or feeling we fall short of great….but instead let’s take a different direction. Let’s simply begin with that very simple question. Do we believe “I AM Enough” at any point in time? We already know that comparing with another person is never in our best interest, so let’s simply experience these words and see if you feel that you CAN say YES! God is simply LOVE and never judges. So, why do we worry so much? I AM…there are way too many words to describe ourselves. Maybe too many.
I was pondering this concept this morning as I watched the beautiful orange ball rising in the sky and shining in our lake. I am always mesmerized for awhile trying to make sure I stay in my Divine PLACE and let go of all thoughts. But, this time I kept thinking that the beauty of the morning was actually a product of the sun rising and being modified by fire raging through the Canadian Rockies! The sun keeps shining like always…and arriving to us through a filter of smoke. Do I need to ask if my view is GOOD ENOUGH? Of course not.
Take the analogy…in our less than perfect lives we are continually working our way through many layers of “filters”. But, in ANY moment in time, I AM ENOUGH. Perfection, like a beautiful sunrise filled with blue skies does not mean that the orange sunrise is any less beautiful! So, YES, we might fall short of expectations…but that is how we GROW and make important changes in our lives! Can I simply smile, laugh, and enjoy even those less than beautiful moments? ABSOLUTELY!
Is it necessary to attach worry to any of those situations where my life is less than perfect? That is our human tendency. There ARE times when I awake early and begin that path of “planning” for a better day. I guess that is just worry by another name. Instead…I’m learning the better path of letting go and allowing peace and tranquility to start my day! It’s funny…my day ALWAYS goes better when I remember to do this simple act of kindness for myself! For me, this took a bit of work, but it was well worth the effort! You might decide you’d like to give it a try!
Then I realized there is another layer here. I couldn’t believe it when I was reading Neale Donald Walsh’s words that came up on my phone after I had enjoyed the orange sky and allowed myself a beautiful half hour of meditation. I love the words, “All the problems you face today are going to go away, unless you worry them to stay! Oh my. I did have a few problems on my mind. But, I was allowing peace and tranquility into my being!
On this day of your life
Terry, I believe God wants you to know …
… that all the problems you face today are going to go
away, unless you worry them to stay.
Problems like worry. Worry is a magnet for them. If
you just “let it be,” the current worrisome condition
will not even be part of your life a short time from now.
If you worry enough about it, however, you can be sure
that it will stick around. So, just do your best around
all this…then turn it over to God. Yes?
Love, your Friend…Neale
Living each day and each moment in harmony with my own nature~ I LOVE this reality that God shared so beautifully with us. I KNOW my inner nature is one of peace, love and harmony with all! With the removal of worry, fear and doubt…LOVE simply pours into every cell of our bodies. We are forever grateful. Thank you GOD for such a beautiful world and our eternal life! Both Marj and I thank all of you for being here with us to SHARE our beautiful lives together. Try to imagine what forever really is?
Forever is that which has no beginning and no end…so no matter who has transitioned out of your life, or thinking someone might be leaving all too soon, remember YOU and all those you love are forever GOOD ENOUGH at any moment in time! ~ Terry Larkin
Wow! This is an awesome challenge to me with so many new ideas. Thank you. ❤️
My mental/emotional trap is “did you accomplish enough” at the end of the day. Then “ what are you going to accomplish today”. Both are just variations of “enough” in my mind. The answer is to not engage with these thoughts. They are just thoughts. We are free!
