Our Divine PLACE

The mind~body connection has actually been well known for a long time in lots of cultures. Western medicine has a “shorter” history, but for so MANY years, just being able to have medications that could cure diseases was huge progress! We ALL understand that concept. We grew up on that premise and are very thankful for all that modern medicine has been able to accomplish in relatively a short time. We have all read countless novels and non-fiction about life at the turn of the century. We are always happy to know we live in a different era now.

There are not very many doctor’s offices that will ask if you dwell in your DIVINE place on a regular basis. Do they ask if you trust your inner wisdom? Do they ask what you do to reduce stress? YES…that is common place now if we are suffering from stress related illnesses. They are much more comfortable if we say we pray than meditate, even that is becoming well accepted. Do they consider suggesting that our thoughts can actually bring about the healing change we need? The talk about “mind-body medicine” is a lot more common place now than ever before. But…our medical system is still growing in spiritual related topics.

I am reading and digesting some very interesting information shared by Deepak Chopra in his book, Quantum Healing. His style of writing and use of language is so different than we can ever imagine in any MD discussion on health! I love this quote.

“The choices you make today are the key to your wellbeing for life. Every cell in your body is eavesdropping on your thoughts. Consciousness research is constantly gaining new ground, so it’s best to assume that your potential for mind-body mastery is much greater than anyone now supposes.” ~Deepak Chopra

If every cell in my body is eavesdropping on my thoughts…I KNOW how much I need to change my thoughts during daily life experiences! While I digest more and more of Deepak Chopra’s book on Quantum Healing, I decided I wanted to pick up one of my favorite go to authors these days and that is Alan Cohen. I’ve shared his talks and writing in the past, but I was pretty sure I remembered that he wrote about keeping a mind in that DIVINE PLACE we would all like to dwell as often as possible! Of course I found it in his newest book which I refer back to so very often, Of Course in Miracles: When Love Becomes a Way of Life.

He has a chapter called,  Your Divine Toolbox. I reread it all and knew I came to the right place to help me CHANGE thoughts when it is really the right way to go! I spend  as much as time permits in my Divine PLACE. Then it hit me square in my thinking…my Divine PLACE  is a way of life NOT a moment in time or an hour spent in meditation. Right away I needed these words…

“While some people complain that ACIM ( A Course in Miracles) is too complicated, it is actually quite simple. There are really only two tools to choose from: the ego or the Holy Spirit; fear or love; illusion or truth. Each tool reinforces and takes us deeper into the thought system that upholds it. Ego hides in complexity. In the world, details embellish. In spirit, details distract.” ~ Alan Cohen Pg. 167-168.

He goes on to quote  the President of Columbia University,  Nicholas Murray Butler. He is President of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. We are so often searching for that expert that can help us with what is really TRUE…but the deeper understanding is there IS no expert outside of God’s words that live within us. Here are Nicolas Butler’s words:

“An expert is someone who knows more and more about less and less until he knows absolutely everything about nothing.”

It is another message for me that keeps me “LISTENING” for Inner Wisdom and messages from beyond this life. “Tools are vehicles through which we give ourselves permission to be healed. While we may use prescription drugs or prayer, the operative factor behind all of those tools is the mind.” ~Alan Cohen

My mind is open and taking in every opportunity to hear the messages that are shared with me! The words and thoughts of  two experts I love are telling me the same story.  It connects with MY MIND through LOVE…I listen. God most likely placed the thoughts right into my inner wisdom for me to pay attention. I am  listening through the ears and eyes of LOVE. How about YOU?
