Spiritual GUIDANCE

ALL of us have been guided by spiritual BEINGS, whether we recognized the help or not. The last week has been full and yet I DO believe I have been guided every step of the way. Each of the very important steps I have taken to make life better have WORKED…I’m listening for sure. Very often it is well AFTER the fact that I recognize that I have been guided from a SOURCE way beyond what my limited human mind could possibly dream up.

I was listening to NBC news on a Monday Veteran’s Day broadcast and heard a very meaningful tribute to Harriet Tubman.We all know and revere Harriet Tubman who was so instrumental in making the Underground Railroad a huge success. But, I was surprised when they said she was the first woman to oversee an American military action during a time of war. With all of the honors from Veterans Day on Monday…SHE was awarded the rank of Brigadier General on Monday…of course posthumously. There was a ceremony in her honor at the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park in Maryland’s Dorcester County. Gov. Wes Moore called the occasion a great day for Tubman’s home state and for all of the U. S. Their hope is that we ALL celebrate the beginnings of the rights of black people in our society.

I sat in wonder at whether anyone in this group of reporters or the Governor of Maryland, has read her personal journals…outlining how she was ALWAYS led through her trails NORTH using spiritual guides every step of the way. Even today, I think people are afraid to talk publicly about the presence of spirits who help guide our world TODAY and have been for all of mankind’s journey. It is probably due to the fact that in her day and still today, people hear odd stories about “evil” spirits or haunted houses like those you can tour in Savanah, Georgia and other cities. Doug and I went to one of the haunted tours and while it was still interesting, I never felt that they brought out the GOOD that comes from communicating with the spirit world.

Spiritual Guidance is NOT a new topic! And yet today, people still resist stories and life experiences relating “spiritual guides” help. As more and more of the world’s populations are awakening to have experiences of their own…it WILL become less of a taboo subject. I always marvel at the looks of skepticism I get from people especially in our church when I mention I have had numerous experiences with spiritual beings. Some say…”Oh I’d like to hear that sometime, but very often that “sometime” never comes.

I read a newer book about the Spiritual Life of Harriet Tubman about a year and a half ago called The Spirit of Harriet Tubman: Awakening from the Underground by Spring Washam.  I found it fascinating and remember many of the stories. Some were written accounts that Harriet wrote herself and left in countless journals about her Spiritual Life. Other stories were coming from the author who was channeling the spirit of Harriet Tubman. I have the book and revisited some of the stories I had marked in it. It is obvious from the channeled material that Harriet Tubman not only signed up to do this work…she is STILL working from the spiritual world to bring change!

When I did a Google search on books about Harriet Tubman, WOW, I was surprised there are so many written over the years! But THIS book about the Spiritual Life was not among them. However, it’s an easy search to find on Amazon. Maybe the world is waking up after all!

Spiritual Guidance IS alive in my life and I am guessing it is alive and active in YOUR life too!

People during Harriet Tubman’s time attributed her head injury as a slave for her “black out” moments that many witnesses reported. But, after she experienced one of those, she always had amazing information to safely guide her along with all of the people she was helping. It was in 2019 when a movie came out about her life. We went to see that too and they showed images of her “visions” she had along the way and how she knew where to go and where not. I thought it was GREAT that they acknowledged these, but of course many people simply didn’t pick up on the significance at all. But, for me, this movie really made her life come alive for me. I’m sure it is now on Netflix to watch.

When I meditate…and ask for Spiritual guidance to please show up…it always does in one form or another. But ASKING here are four important components.

• BELIEF in the presence of GUIDES for YOU is critical.
• ASK for help. I have realized more and more that I need to be very specific about my request for guidance!
• BE OPEN to when and how you will receive the guidance. I have realized way too often that it is never in the way I thought it would come! I learned to let go of how and BE open when it comes!
• Be PATIENT…we need to know that life doesn’t happen on our timeline!

I think my own understandings about trusting Spiritual Guidance has come through people like Suzanne Giesemann who still amazes me because she is ALWAYS coming out with something new!
