Listening for the NEW…

There are such beautiful words we hear when our world, our country, our communities, our friends and family all wish us…

Happy NEW Year!

Here are a few favorites that I wrote down:

• Here’s to a year of good health, lots of love, and plenty of laughter.
• May you always spread smiles and blessings where ever you go in 2024 with lots of LOVE flourishing!
• May the silent battles you fought in 2023 transform into your loudest victories in 2024.
• We hope the New Year starts bright and continues to shine throughout the year in peace and contentment.
• God gives confidence through the gentle touch of his grace by which you will find happiness on  your path. His love provides us the confidence to embrace a great NEW year.

We sometimes grasp onto words that have special meaning for our own life. But.. have you ever thought that it is a NEW YOU stepping out to new experiences, so you are listening in a new way? Sure, we just hung up our new calendar with a different year on it and we probably already have upcoming appointments or plans written in the boxes.  BUT, what will be NEW? Is it possible it is YOU that is NEW? The new YOU listening in a NEW way?

We too often hear about new goals for our health and wellness routines. Can it be what we really need is far more simple; allow our new self to live in the present moment and make decisions accordingly? Allow the light of joy to permeate even our most difficult challenges and practice the ART of listening to our thoughts in a new way?

As we pack away our fond Christmas memories, we can add the warmth in our hearts for finding light and love. Gratitude simply keeps us in the present moment! In the warmth of self love, we can allow the light to shine from within out to others. We allow the sifting through difficult moments and sadness along with the joy. We have allowed ourselves to be human.  And yet…perhaps we have OPENED a new doorway listening in a new way to the voice of GOD.

God IS talking to us at every moment of every day, but as Neale Donald Walsh wrote in his new book, God Talk, are we listening? If you are looking for incredible stories of how God does talk to people, this book is very fascinating and thought provoking. We have such preconceived notions of just how it is that we might hear from God. In fact far too many people think there is only one way. Prayer IS VERY POWERFUL. If we look and listen in a NEW way with our NEW self navigating new experiences in life…perhaps we will hear in a totally NEW way.

Perhaps the phrase, Happy NEW Year will take on new meaning for you!

The rituals of our spiritual life will illuminate dark days through books, music, art, and PEOPLE. Every day we can remind ourselves that when our screens are sharing war and suffering, most people want peace and are looking for the same light and love.

All those little things you do to show love and kindness ~  they all add up to something REALLY BIG! YOU are shining light into the darkness everywhere…because you ARE the light of our world!
