Our SPIRITUAL Footprint…

Following the publication of our book, I did a lot of public speaking. I knew then that the words I spoke, the actions that I took, and the activities I joined were making a difference in other’s lives as well as my own. I remember writing a blog post many years ago about the ripple effect that was taking place as each and every one of us touches another’s life in a spiritual way. We often used the image of the ripples in water reaching out further and further. I knew how extremely helpful those analogies were to me. I was really able to visualize the contributions I was making. When times got very busy, it really kept me in the flow with a smile on my face to keep me going. When I added healing into the mix I knew that in a new sort of way I was leaving my SPIRITUAL Footprint along a path I had taken in my life.

Lately I have experienced this just in some very ordinary moments with caregivers. I had no idea that words I said to them, or words I said to Doug in their presence were making a difference. My awareness was just not there. Then recently in talks with the director of our caregiver organization let me know otherwise. Wow…I had no idea. My thought was oh my goodness, open your thinking a little wider!

I could share countless examples of people over many years who have expressed how very much I had changed their life. But, I do think there is even something more significant and powerful. And these are the everyday moments that you might not even realize how far your spiritual footprint has traveled. It doesn’t end just with the immediate people in your lives. Someone you touched shares it with another and most of us will never know just how powerful of a SPIRITUAL Footprint we have left. And yet, I think we need this now in a very crazy world  more than ever. The ripples keep spreading in ways we’ll never see or be able to measure.

I have been feeling like my ripple effect went from being very large to a very small drop in the ocean because I cannot go speak anywhere now and I cannot travel to places like I used to where I am meeting new and exciting other individuals. But, somehow my guides and angels have been telling me differently. I know my spiritual footprint matters because I can choose to live consciously, show up with presence when it is needed, and leave small little traces of grace rather than huge waves in an ocean. My morning meditations have been pointing in this direction so that I thought, YES, you need to write about this.  You may be feeling like you don’t leave  a large BIG FOOT size footprint either…but I do hope you’ll reconsider just how very much your presence in this world matters to all of us!

Mystics have always known, as do I that LOVE is the most powerful force in the Universe. Not any one of us is trying to be perfect, but we have been given the extraordinary privilege of BEING an instrument of that love. With each word we say, with every kind smile we share, and in every interaction, we CAN make that footprint we leave in our world a lasting imprint. It is the awareness of your lasting footprint that contributes to being able to make more and more OF them! And remember, they come right back to YOU in a new and different way.

Thinking of how many countless times I have left my own footprints in a beach walk all over in the world…it is mind boggling. But unfortunately our very human brain pictures the prints being washed away with the next wave that comes into the sand. BUT…try to picture in a NEW way. I so remember pausing to contemplate life as I walked the ocean because it was my happy place. And all it takes is the “memory” to close your eyes and visualize the time and place…it never leaves you! Just like your practice of learning to notice and see more clearly the Divine Presence you are leaving in your every day small moments. I believe DIVINE GRACE is a good way to describe each and every one of YOU! All of you leave a whisper of love with every word you share with our world!
