Psychic ABILITIES

There are times when I think I probably enjoy some psychic abilities and yet society just doesn’t LIKE those words! I think it scares them to even think about it sometimes. Or maybe it is simply the word “psychic” that has taken on negative connotations for a long time in the past, even though history is full of examples of it! Our churches are certainly afraid to recognize that even stories in the Bible just might open up discussions on this topic.

Unfortunately this past week has found me sitting in a hospital room with my husband for way too many hours. It isn’t boredom that brought me to spend more time reading magazines that I love. It was cherishing even a FEW moments to read!  But, the last few days I had brought along my Spirituality & Health magazine. I had received the new one, the May/June issue…which arrives in April. On the cover was  John Holland on AWAKENING to YOUR SOUL’s Voice. It caught my eye because I had just written a post about our soul’s VOICE!

So interesting that he’s talking about a lot of the same things I brought up in my last post. I Loved reading the article. I met John Holland years ago at a workshop I attended in Scottsdale, Arizona…just before our book was published. He put on an amazing presentation and I really enjoyed him as a person…not just as a physic medium. And I had to laugh as one of the nurses glanced over and saw what I was reading! It caught her attention, but she didn’t ask anything, just smiled. I did the same.

The article was written question and answer style through questions by an editor of the magazine, Karen Brailsford. I found it interesting in the biography that John Holland, who spent most of his life in England writing and practicing his psychic abilities,  now lives in New Hampshire. He says that he is NOT done learning! He recently became certified as an animal Reiki practitioner. Fascinating. He’s a well known physic medium and talks about how he is still “GROWING”! I don’t know why that surprises me, but it does…we are ALL still growing, including ME!

One of the questions particularly grabbed my attention in this article. She asked, “What are the key tenets of your teaching?” I think there is a message here in his answer that applies to EVERY ONE of us!

“First, we are all naturally psychic. We have the five senses, but there are many more. If you learn to see clairvoyantly, you can see beyond what’s in front of you. If you’re clairaudient, you hear the real words. If you are clairsentient, you are tuned into your inner feeling. We’re physical beings in a physical world, but also spiritual beings in a spiritual world. 

Second, you must understand that there’s something more than what’s in front of you that is trying to help you – your soul. Once you do that, you can trust your soul, your own guidance. Many people want to hand everything over to the physic. Tell me what to do. Tell me what you see. But you can get answers for yourself.” ~ John Holland

I know that it is our human mind that really wants to hand everything over to anyone besides ourselves! Even after my NDE, I recognize that tendency in myself to want to have anyone else besides me figure this all out! I know I relied on Dr. Wayne Dyer to teach me a lot of things while I was watching HIM grow as well! But, as we all now know, we are simply “remembering” what we know. And that remembering is our learning. I know that I have learned that in every human experience we have, it is LOVE and COMPASSION that helps us bring peace into our lives. And it spreads it to others. I found I used this concept in the hospital setting over and over. It helped me stay grounded and feeling less stress. For me that is an important message during a difficult time in our personal lives, our country and worldwide!
