Body Language…

OUR BODY has a LANGUAGE… are we LISTENING?

As a group of spiritual seekers,  we so often talk about helping ourselves “enlighten” our thoughts as we journey in this lifetime. We have AMAZING experiences and even miracles that keep arriving in our lives, but they are not our constant companions. Marj and I have so often talked about how by going within, we can make such a huge difference in our every day life. But, that statement is simply one piece of our every day lives.

Tuning into the language of our bodies as we go through our daily activities can be very enlightening if we are paying attention. The daily listening during  meditation allows our BODIES to “talk to us!” The body DOES talk…but are we listening? I have to give credit to this amazing photo from our local Holland, Michigan Physical Therapy Newsletter. I loved their article about how our bodies are constantly having conversations debating the issues of more or less physical activity and food decisions that lead us to either talk to our stomachs or our cravings!

But I would like to take this discussion into the reality of living in an enlightened state of understanding. Tuning into the LANGUAGE of our bodies can be very enlightening and increase our intuition on a daily basis. I have been relying on this intuition recently in my life and it has made a HUGE difference in being able to manage my own physical needs during a very stressful time in my life.

Our bodies continuously speak, sending us messages through the way we move and through a bird’s eye view…signs AROUND us that we might have missed. Most of this language we are referring to is non-verbal. We often wish a voice would simply sound out loud and say, “Terry, look at this!” Unfortunately, that is not how intuition presents itself. BUT, if we open ourselves to listen through ALL of our senses instead of simply our ears…we CAN and do hear messages!  We hear gurus talk about the fact that our bodies simply cannot lie. Our minds are really good at convincing us otherwise, but I agree that our bodies simply CANNOT lie to us. They simply take what IS and present it to us. Does that message sound familiar? Living for the moment and accepting what IS?

As we move into understanding people around us,  we can experience an  understanding about how their feelings about life can totally change the feelings we experience at any given moment. Yes, even when we disagree with someone talking to us…there is something in our intuition that says, NO, but our bodies absorb that feeling anyway. Our body can be a reliable compass that points us in the right direction or we can let mind musings filter in to CHANGE the reality that our bodies’ are trying to share.

If you want to know how you truly feel about a situation, then it is a good idea to tune in to what you are feeling inside!  Are you painting a picture of your own wishes in life? Excitement, hope, nervousness, anxiety, and fear are just some of the messages that your body wants you to hear. We are very able to totally talk ourselves into and out of choices when our mind is in control.  It isn’t as easy to change the truth that our hearts are shouting out to our BODIES! Internal organs, our gut, and our heart listens when we very often do not due to mind control. We are ABLE to circumvent the mind’s control when we LISTEN to the language of our bodies! I keep trying to “paint myself a whole lot of colorful days!”

There is another layer of understanding that can help us all. When we pay attention to ANOTHER person’s body language…we can sense, hear, see and pay attention to what another person is feeling. If we put all of those senses into pure LOVE and compassion with no judgement for “why” or “how” their own feelings got there…our own responses are so much more appropriate.

“If we are receptive, hear, experience, and understand through our soul… our bodies will share some incredibly important messages for us!” ~ Terry Larkin
