TRUST Guidance

TRUST Guidance

Trust is a very tricky word. You probably already know the concept.  I believe that sometimes our brain simply twists around what thoughts might come to us to FIT into what we were hoping to hear. I learned long ago that I CAN connect with Spirit, God, guides, my Soul or whatever term you want to use to describe our inner most connection. I try to LIVE with the intention to ask and listen. Trusting our inner guidance system is a bit tricky however.

Recently I had an experience where I had asked a really important question for my life right now…and did get a message back that I should trust what help was sent. But, then the help that came and sent me into anger instead of acceptance. Not a pretty thought, when love is how I live every single day. But, sometimes I am guessing we simply WANT a certain answer and when something different arrives…it’s easy to lose a bit of TRUST. Maybe it’s related to my listening skills from the realm beyond?

I’ve been reading the newest book by Suzanne Giesemann called ALWAYS CONNECTED: How to Find Comfort, Clarity, and Direction from the Spirit Within. Even though I had gotten fairly far in the book…after my experience I decided I might need to go back to the beginning of the book and see what I missed.  I was quite taken with some words in the Preface. She used the words from a young man, Wolf that had died from lightening and Suzanne has written a book all about him which I read long ago, but she also has made a documentary about his life. Michael “Wolf” Pasakarnis’  life was SO deep with both mystery and significance that reading about him would forever seal any doubt about the life beyond and our connection to it. But, this time Suzanne  was using the final words written as a poem  just before his death and left for his family.

“Spirit of great healer, awaken from within this heart. Peace and tranquility flow like water. The time has come to allow the light of nature to free my soul.”

~ Wolf’s last message

Something in those words spoke to me in a big way the other morning. I really needed peace and tranquility to flow through my being at that moment. I got an index card and wrote the words down so I could grab it and read them at any moment. I stuck the card in my journal I’m keeping right now. Spirit of Great Healer…yes it struck a deep meaning within me. And I loved the way that Suzanne Giesemann was using the phrase, “Hey Spirit” …to instantly call upon our connection. I chuckled at how she made reference to replacing the words, “Hey Siri…I want to know”…naming anything of course. But, to use Hey, Spirit…I need an answer to my question! It’s not that I didn’t read this the first time, but now I needed to implant that into my brain so I could USE it at a moments notice. I have such high respect for everything that Suzanne Giesemann shares with us all.

I also LOVED the chapter entitled Cultivating Patience! I think the word cultivate is a wise use of words. I always think of my father cultivating his huge garden outside getting it ready to plant so many kinds of vegetables that would nourish us for a whole year. But, it took cultivating all summer long to keep the soil perfect for the timing of the vegetables to actually arrive. Well, we need to do the same for ourselves. Keep cultivating the patience within our so human mind to rest and be OPEN for the love in our hearts to burst forth with something nourishing. Suzanne gives us so much in each and every chapter to keep us in JOY while we grow, change and learn. Do we have the patience to cultivate presence?

“How to cultivate presence? Lovingly plant the seed of intention to remain present and trust the flow of being. Water this intention and give it plenty of sunlight in the form of your trust that what you think must occur now now now is not as critical as what is actually occurring now now now. Observe the blossoming of patience as you observe what is here now now now, and we dare say patience will look quite beautifully in your ways previously unimagined.”

~ Pg. 139  Always Connected

WOW…what an eye opener for me. And of course in her usual style she gives us all kinds of ways to work on all of these concepts she writes about. I know I will be sharing in meaningful ways how it helped me just at the time I needed it… of course! Taking her ideas and putting them to work for our own style of inner work is really the best for all of us!

I know I am understanding the concept that TRUST plays in all of this. YES, we need to trust the guidance we are receiving even when we think it came with a different message than we had intended. And yet, my intention was there…just trusting the NEW answer was tricky. I’m working hard to work on ways to cultivate TRUST in my life with complete intention!

  1. Trust has been the focus of my spiritual practice lately also. I’d like to have or read a discussion of the juxtaposition of trust on the fact that we create our world. Does trust imply that we give up initiative and intention? Do we just intend and then surrender or is there a conflict?
